Phillip Erwin, MD, PhD is a board-certified general and interventional cardiologist with special expertise in the treatment of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and the use of mechanical circulatory support. Prior to moving to Colorado with his family to enjoy the Colorado lifestyle, Dr Erwin practiced in Miami, Florida. Among other accomplishments, he founded a program in complex coronary and structural interventional cardiology at a Miami hospital.
Dr Erwin prides himself on treating the “whole patient” with an emphasis on prevention and lifestyle modifications. As such, he is eager to see all patients with cardiology questions—not just those needing procedures.
Dr. Erwin earned his MD and PhD degrees from Harvard Medical. His post-graduate training included internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at New York’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and further fellowships in coronary, structural, and vascular interventional cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr Erwin’s procedural skills include cardiac catheterization and stenting (primarily done from the wrist); low-contrast procedures for patients with chronic kidney disease; treatment of calcified coronary artery disease, and; providing interventional cardiology alternatives to cardiac surgery in patients at high risk for surgical complications.
Beyond his passion for cardiovascular medicine, Dr Erwin is kept busy by his wife and three young daughters who love to hike, bike, and ski the Rocky Mountains.
